Renovation of Ceilings, Floors, and Installation of Underfloor Heating

This film illustrates the renovation of ceilings and floors and the installation of an underfloor heating.

The floor of the attic and first floor consists of I-beams with pumice concrete in between. A four cm thick fill serves as footfall sound insulation. A soft fiberboard covers this fill and is also the base for the underfloor heating elements.

For research reasons, different floor heating systems and screed systems are applied to the prepared floor surfaces.

The floor heating systems, suitable for dry screeds, consist of hard foam boards covered with aluminum sheets, and copper pipes are laid in prefabricated channels. The heat is transferred from the pipes and the well-conducting aluminium sheet to the dry screed and from there to the tile covering.

Cement-bonded screed plates, laid in two layers, offer the constructive and physical conditions of a dry screed.

As an alternative to the cement-based screed systems, a dry screed made of anhydrite has been used.

As an alternative to the dry screeds, a flowing screed made of anhydrite has been chosen.

Floor Heating System

The selected floor heating system for the floating screed consists of hard foam panels with the corresponding channels for the plastic floor heating pipes.

Screed over the Underfloor Heating

The flowing screed applied subsequently completely encloses the heating pipe so that a good heat transfer via the screed to the tiled floor covering is ensured.

For research reasons, the building is equipped with underfloor heating and radiators.

The heat supply of the house can be secured by any system.
